The Numeracy Workshop

Another Visit to the Numeracy Workshop

I visited the Numeracy Workshop on Wednesday 22nd July, 2015. It was obvious that the participants have been very busy sharpening their teaching skills.

A poster entitled " Best Practices in Teaching'' caught my attention. A photograph of this poster is shown below.

There was also another poster on the wall entitled ''Class Agreement". The poster, shown in the photograph below, is in my opinion, an essential part of every classroom.

I was also privileged to be able to see three short Mathematics lessons taught by the participants of the Numeracy Workshop. As a Mathematics Teacher, I was very impressed with the variety of strategies that these teachers utilized in their lessons. The activities included clapping, stomping of the feet, demonstrations, question and answer, and drawing to name few.

I was also impressed with the feedback given by the other teachers, and the manner in which this feedback was given. The feedback was constructive, and useful. I felt like I was in the presence of a loving family, who helped and supported each other to achieve a common goal. They were helping each other to become better teachers.

A photograph of a poster used in one of the lessons is shown below.
